Global hotel, resort and other hospitality employers look for university graduates who possess the analytical, practical and employability skills needed for managerial positions. This major covers the key aspects required for managing diverse hotel, resort, accommodation and hospitality businesses including managing the service experience, food and beverage management, rooms division management, human resource management, financial management, international hotel and resort management and strategic management. Students also choose a specialised unit in business events management, contemporary issues, marketing analytics and/or an international business study tour. The international hotel, resort, and hospitality industries are dynamic and fast-paced. Graduates are presented with a wide variety of career options to choose from as the sector encompasses activities such as accommodation, food and drink providers, and business, tourism and recreation events and services. The size and potential of the sector means that employment opportunities and demand for qualified employees in Australia and worldwide is strong, and will grow as these service industries continue to expand. Graduates will gain the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, essential competencies and professional perspectives required by middle and senior levels of management in contemporary hotel, resort and hospitality organisations. Course Exclusion: This major cannot be studied under the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
