Nutrition Science Major

The Nutrition Science unit set is designed to prepare graduates for the rapidly evolving nutrition and health landscape which requires multi-skilled and agile professionals who are capable of working across sectors and disciplines. Graduates will be equipped with the clinical and technical skills to meet, and solve, the current and future nutrition-related health needs of the community. Students will learn about mechanisms and functions of the human body with a focus on the role of nutrition in health.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply broad and coherent medical nutrition science knowledge to a range of theoretical and practical contexts.
  2. Critically analyse, interpret and synthesise medical, nutrition, and health science information.
  3. Use initiative and independent judgement to anticipate medical nutrition science challenges and generate solutions to problems.
  4. Use digital and laboratory technologies to access, evaluate and synthesise medical nutrition science information from multiple sources.
  5. Communicate medical nutrition science knowledge and ideas clearly, coherently and with independence.
  6. Demonstrate a global outlook with respect for diverse cultural, sustainable and social perspectives, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural competence.
