Literature and Writing Major

The major will prepare students to enter the world of work as a critical reader and thinker, and as a skilled writer in a variety of styles and forms. These are marketable skills for leadership in many organisations. Students with a passion for writing will be able to explore the work of other authors while nurturing their capacity for creativity.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate high level critical reading and written communication skills, reflective thinking and the ability to synthesis concepts.
  2. Apply relevant skills and knowledge to produce and realise creative written works and / or critical theoretical work.
  3. Apply writing shills to develop professional opportunities through understanding of the application of writing in various contexts.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of the critical language and key forms of literary arts practice in a regional context and through historical and international exemplars.
