The major is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to teach Years 7 to 12 Visual Arts, with an emphasis on visual literacy foundations. Emphasis is also placed upon collaborative teaching processes, whilst acknowledging the importance of individual creative practice.

Visual Arts Teacher
Graduates will be eligible to seek employment in both government and non-government secondary schools teaching Visual Arts, and have the option to also work as specialist Kindergarten to Year 6 Visual Arts teachers.
Students are required to complete 10 Content units and 2 Curriculum units. Content units educate students in the subject area and the Curriculum units explain how to teach the subject area to others.
