This minor allows students to investigate a range of science topics, such as the structure and anatomy of living organisms, and their physiology, life cycles and behaviour; the origin of life, cell structure and biochemistry to genetics, taxonomy and evolution; physics principles as applied to motion, sound, heat, light, radioactivity and electricity; and chemical concepts and principles. The content of the curriculum units includes creating lesson plans, evaluating and rehearsing teaching strategies, safe handling of laboratory equipment and exploring the nature of scientific inquiry.
