Civil and Environmental Engineering research at ECU concentrates on problems in broad areas of infrastructure in order to make the construction cost-effective, environmentally friendly and sustainable. Specific postgraduate research topics are developed in conjunction with the postgraduate coordinator or potential supervisor, however applications are particularly encouraged from those with an interest in: Environmental and water engineering; Geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering; Pavement and mining geotechnics; Structural engineering. Researchers in the school are currently involved in projects investigating ground improvement, slope stability analysis, utilisation of wastes, anchor pullout capacity, concrete mix designs, structural testing, hydraulic flume testing, etc. The school has all basic facilities to characterise the civil engineering materials, and also facilities for model and prototype tests.
This unit set information may be updated and amended immediately prior to semester. To ensure you have the correct outline, please check it again at the beginning of semester. In particular please check the unit and unit set offerings, as these differ according to course delivery location.
It is desirable that all applicants do not contact potential supervisors before applying. Applicants will be matched with a suitable supervisor if successful in gaining course admission.
