Science Education Years 7 - 12 Specialisation

This specialisation is designed for students wishing to become secondary science teachers. Science teachers at a secondary school level must be knowledgeable in a wide range of sciences including physics, chemistry and biology. The content is closely aligned to the requirements of the Australian Curriculum, and to WACE syllabus and examination requirements. The units cover school curricula, teaching strategies, and the development and assessment of teaching programs.

Special Admission Requirements

All applicants are required to complete a major in science (three years of degree level study with at least 4 units at level 2 or above). This may include theoretical units from the disciplines of biology, chemistry, astronomy, physics and earth and environmental science. *Applied degrees, such as leisure science, nursing, psychology, architecture or sports science are often lacking in the breadth of content required for the secondary Science major.
