Costume
VET Stream
Effective from 01-JAN-2025 : Code VSAABE
The costume stream is structured to provide training in the techniques and processes required for advanced construction and management of costumes and accessories for theatre and live performance. Students develop skills and knowledge in advanced pattern making, period costume, corsetry and undergarments, and costumes for dance and physical movement. Other production and design specific units include work health and safety and management processes. Students also gain skills in the management of costumes for production, which incorporates budgeting, scheduling, costume manufacture, and supervising studio and backstage processes.

Students may be required to attend and/or support evening and weekend rehearsals and performances. The may be at locations external to WAAPA, ECU.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates are employed in a professional capacity as costume designers for live production, including theatre, opera, dance and music theatre.
