This stream is for students who are interested in developing their composition skills. Students are offered weekly classes including composition workshop, ensembles, aural development, theory, music technology, music history and performance practice. On successful completion, students are encouraged to apply and audition for theW76 Bachelor of Music.
This unit set information may be updated and amended immediately prior to semester. To ensure you have the correct outline, please check it again at the beginning of semester. In particular please check the unit and unit set offerings, as these differ according to course delivery location.
All applicants are required to attend an audition. In addition, all applicants are normally expected to be turning at least 17 by 30th June in the year of commencing the course. A written theory/aural may also be required.

Students may be required to attend evening and weekend rehearsals and performances.

This specialisation contains four core units and twelve elective units. At WAAPA, these units of competency are clustered within the delivery units of Aural/Theory, Composition Skills, 20th Century Music and Culture, Second Study Instrument, Copyright, Professional Development Skills, OHS and Music Techniques.
