Performance VET Specialisation

Effective from 01-JAN-2023 : Code VSAABH

The Performance specialisation is structured to prepare students for a range of careers through an authentic learning environment. Students develop their skills through performance workshops, ensembles, aural development, theory, music technology, history and performance practice. During their study students have access to workshops and performances, and have special access to WAAPA's rehearsal spaces and practice rooms. Students learn in a multi-disciplinary academy and have access to hundreds of outstanding performances across all art forms over the course of the year. The Performance specialisation includes the Classical, Jazz, Contemporary and Music Artist streams. The Classical, Jazz and Contemporary streams are designed for students wishing to develop their instrumental or vocal performance skills in their chosen area. The Music Artist stream focuses on creative original music, song writing, performance preparation and collaboration. Original music, both solo and collaborative, is combined with stagecraft skills in performance studies.
