Edith Cowan University (ECU) is proud to congratulate School of Arts and Humanities alumna, Susie Greenhill for her debut novel, The Clinking.
Susie Greenhill completed her PhD in creative writing at ECU in 2015 and was also awarded the University's 2016 Postgraduate Research Medal.
Since graduating from ECU, Susie went on to win the 2016 Richell Prize for emerging writers, resulting in the release of her debut novel, The Clinking.
Exploring life and loss, the novel follows a young family caught in the eye of a storm, in the not-too-distant future on the island of lutruwita.
Described by The Guardian, as a "stunning, devastating debut", The Clinking is a powerful ecological love story about grief and hope in a warming world.
"This stunning, devastating debut starts slowly, easing us into the future where the novel takes place, a future marked by global heating and mass extinction," said The Guardian.
"This beautiful novel cuts deep – and leaves an open wound."
The Clinking is published by Hachette Australia and is out now.
