ECU alumni and staff recognised in King's Birthday Honours

ECU is incredibly proud to extend congratulations to alumni and staff who were recognised in the 2024 King's Birthday Honours List.

The annual King's Birthday Honours List recognises exemplary Australians and their contributions across community service, science and research, industry, sport, the arts, and other key fields.

This year, there were 737 Honours recipients, ten of them are Edith Cowan University (ECU)-affiliated alumni and staff.

ECU is incredibly proud to extend congratulations to the following:

Suzanne Ardagh AM received a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to business, to the arts, and to the community. She graduated from ECU with a Graduate Diploma of Business (Secretarial Studies) in 1985.

Vanessa Elliott AM received a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the Indigenous community, to the mining industry, and to public administration. She graduated from ECU’s Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with an Advance Certificate in Aboriginal Musical Theatre in 1995.

Stephen Langford OAM received a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to medicine, to rural health, and to medical education. He is a former ECU staff member.

Noelle Eve Shader OAM received an (Honorary) Medal of the Order of Australia for service to ballet. She is a former ECU staff member.

Robyn Smith Walley OAM received a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the Indigenous community of Western Australia. She received an ECU Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of the University) in 2020.

Jennifer Dianne Willcox OAM received a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community of the Shire of Manjimup. She is a former ECU staff member.

Shane Hamilton PSM received a Public Service Medal for outstanding public service to Aboriginal communities in New South Wales. He is a former ECU staff member.

Leanne Green ACM received an Australian Corrections Medal. She graduated from ECU with a Bachelor of Arts (Justice Studies) in 1994.

Joanne Miles ASM received an Ambulance Service Medal. She graduated from ECU with a Master of Paramedical Science in 2018.

Philip Stanaitis ASM received an Ambulance Service Medal. He graduated from ECU with Bachelor of Science (Paramedical Science) in 2010 and a Master of Paramedical Science in 2012.
