Edith Cowan University (ECU) congratulates the six outstanding schools across Western Australia for being named winners in the 2024 WA Education Awards.
ECU was proud to celebrate the two ECU alumni who have become primary school Principals of schools named as winners in the 2024 WA Education Awards.
The WA Education Awards highlight the exceptional achievements of public schools and celebrate the important way they positively shape the lives of our young people.
There were six award categories this year, recognising schools that demonstrate excellence in leadership, teaching and learning (both primary and secondary), cultural responsiveness, disability and inclusion, and wellbeing.
The School of Education
ECU is proud to be a sponsor of the WA Education Awards, having honoured a successful partnership with these key awards since 2009.
ECU School of Education, Executive Dean Professor Caroline Mansfield delivered an impactful speech at the presentation breakfast at Optus Stadium.
"It is incredibly important to recognise the exemplary and influential work of WA public schools and the staff who go above and beyond in delivering positive outcomes for all students," Professor Mansfield said.
"ECU's School of Education is renowned for its commitment to equipping aspiring and practicing teachers with the skills, knowledge and experiences needed to make a positive impact on students and communities.
"Congratulations to all of this year's award winners and nominees. Your dedication to nurturing the minds of the next generation plays a significant role in how our future is shaped."
ECU School of Education graduates continue to make a positive difference to the lives of students with two of the six schools awarded led by ECU alumni.

Bannister Creek Primary School staff are committed to building culturally safe and engaging learning environments through a range of practical initiatives. Among them is the school's Aboriginal parent liaison group called Baldja Waangkiny (Talking Strong Together) where parents and Aboriginal leaders guide important cultural learning opportunities, projects, celebrations and activities.
Excellence in wellbeing and learning
Lockridge Primary School won the Excellence in wellbeing and learning award. The Principal, Mike Mount-Bryson is an ECU alumnus who graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Education (Primary).

Initiatives, such as breakfast clubs and tailored mentoring programs, ensure that all students have access to the wellbeing resources they need to succeed.
