Edith Cowan University's (ECU) has struck a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with immigration and recruitment specialist Perdaman Global Services and Indian health major Apollo Health Resources to offer transformative career opportunities to Indian nurses.
The School of Nursing and Midwifery Executive Dean Professor Karen Strickland said that the collaboration would provide Indian nurses with entry to ECU's International Adaptation Program (IAP) assisting them in meeting Australian nursing standards.
"The collaboration will develop training and education programs for Indian Registered Nurses (RNs) to facilitate their registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency through the Objective Structured Clinical Examination route.
"The MoU also offers new health research and professional development opportunities between India and Australia," Professor Strickland said.
First students under the MoU are expected on campus by the second semester of this year.
The MoU with Perdaman and Apollo followed a similar agreement that SNM struck at the end of 2023 with global healthcare consultancy and recruitment agency Charkos Global, which is aimed at supporting registered nurses from India to migrate to Australia to assist in workforce shortages in the healthcare sector.
