Edith Cowan University (ECU) staff, students and alumni have rallied together to support students in need at Perth's biggest annual fundraising event, HBF Run for a Reason.

ECU rallied a team with 56 participants who ran, walked, and rolled to raise funds to help more ECU students get across the finish line of their degrees.

The ECU team raised over $10,600 that will go towards the Inspiring Minds Scholarship Fund.

The Inspiring Minds Scholarship Fund is designed to support current undergraduate students who may be experiencing financial difficulties, personal hardships or come from underrepresented backgrounds.

At ECU, we believe our students will be the change-makers and creative thinkers of tomorrow. All students have great potential, and regardless of their financial circumstances, they have the right to a life-changing education.

The success of this year's HBF Run for a Reason fundraiser will see three Inspiring Minds Scholarships of $3,000 each created to help transform the lives of ECU students.

ECU's Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Susan Schofield thanked everyone who took part and donated to the HBF Run for a Reason.

"It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to support our talented and deserving students," Susan said.

"It just goes to show the power of community fundraising, and how every donation no matter the value can make a big difference and change lives."

Donations are still being accepted until 30 June 2024, find out more about the Inspiring Minds Scholarship and make a tax deductible donation on the ECU fundraising page.
