Edith Cowan University (ECU) has hosted its largest-ever event for international education agents, cementing its position as the university partner of choice.
Held in Mauritius, the flagship Global Agent Directors' Summit was organised by the International Business Operations team, welcoming 65 of ECU's core business partners from over 40 countries.
"ECU is committed to internationalisation and our Global Agent Directors' Summit made its mark by being the first major offshore partner event by any Australian university following the border opening," Jake Garman, ECU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) said.
Future-proofing ECU's international success
Officially opened by ECU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Steve Chapman, the three-day Summit featured over 30 dedicated focus sessions.
It opened with a keynote speech on Artificial Intelligence by Steve Sammartino, a renowned Futurist.
The program also included interactive and engaging masterclasses by ECU Schools and Student Administration.
NEW DAWN was the theme for the Summit, representing new chapters in ECU's story, such as the launch of the Sri Lanka campus and the opening of ECU City in 2026.
"I could not be prouder of what the International Business Operations team has achieved with this landmark event," Marko Remes, Dean International Business Operations said.
"Its success is a testament of our team spirit, innovation and creative thinking in action, with each and every internal participant having a key role in making the Global Agent Directors' Summit 2023 a big hit."
NEW DAWN: Partnerships on the horizon
The event concluded with ECU Global Agent Awards 2023, showcasing and recognising ECU's top-performing international education agents, across ten different categories.
To highlight the importance of Africa as a growing international student recruitment region for ECU, Mauritius was chosen as the location for the conference. The country was also selected due to its safe reputation, and well-connected flight paths for Summit guests.
A range of additional in-market activities were completed before and after the Summit in Mauritius, including signing of Memorandum of Understanding with University of Mauritius, as well as an ECU-exclusive Student Fair, where prospective students had an opportunity to meet face-to-face with academics from all ECU Schools.
