Edith Cowan University's Associate Professor Rosemary Saunders' research has been acknowledged by being named a finalist in the 2023 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
Professor Saunders is one of just three finalists in the Excellence in Research category.
As Associate Professor at ECU's School of Nursing and Midwifery and Research Fellow at Hollywood Private Hospital, Professor Saunders' academic career spans more than 30 years, with her research covering older adult care, stroke care, volunteers in healthcare, end of life care and more.
Professor Saunders said she is honoured to be named a finalist.
"My role as a nurse researcher has enabled me to establish a nurse-led program of research at Hollywood Private Hospital, Ramsay Health Care and to lead research with nurses and other clinicians related to health care innovations to improve outcomes for patients in hospital," she said.
School of Nursing and Midwifery Executive Dean Professor Karen Strickland said the School was delighted Professor Saunders' contribution to improved patient outcomes through her research had received such an acknowledgement.
"One of ECU School of Nursing and Midwifery's key priorities is making a sustained, high-quality contribution to the nursing and midwifery professions," Professor Strickland said.
"It is our many industry partnerships and research collaborations with organisations such as Hollywood Private Hospital, Ramsay Health Care that help us achieve this.
"Professor Saunders' leadership in this partnership has been instrumental to its success."
WANMEA will announce the winners at a gala ceremony event in October.
