Edith Cowan University (ECU) is pleased to announce that Senior Lecturer of Computing and Security, Dr Mohi Ahmed has been elected as a Fellow of Advance HE.
The appointment recognises Dr Ahmed and ECU's world-class teaching and education in cyber security.
Advance HE engages with tertiary education providers worldwide to improve education for academic staff members, students and the society. As experts in higher education, they have a particular focus on teaching and learning, governance, leadership development and equality, diversity and inclusion.
Dr Ahmed achieved the status of Fellow (FHEA) in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education.
The prestigious Fellowship recognises individuals from a wide variety of different contexts whose practice with learners has 'breadth and depth'.
Dr Ahmed said that he was grateful to ECU and his colleague for their continuous support to become a leader in the cyber discipline.
"Undoubtedly, for any academic in higher education, the Fellowship is a major accolade, and I am glad to attain it," he said.
"Being a Fellow, I will have the opportunity to support and lead relevant higher education projects and help with strategies and policies for a sustainable cyber education ecosystem."
The Fellowship exhibits commitment to professionalism in higher education teaching and learning. To attain the prestigious status, a Fellow must demonstrate the effectiveness of practice in teaching and/or supporting high-quality learning through solid evidence.
Dr Ahmed is currently a Senior Lecturer of Computing and Security in ECU's School of Science. He has been educating the next generation of cyber leaders and researching to disrupt the cybercrime ecosystem. His research focuses on ensuring national security and safeguarding critical infrastructures from cyber terrorists.
