ECU proudly celebrating Pride Month this November

ECU's proud and continued support for LGBTIQA+ students, staff, alumni and the wider community is being celebrated across our campuses and out in the community throughout Pride Month.

As ECU Vice Chancellor Professor Clare Pollock expressed to all staff, we each play a role in ensuring ECU is a safe and inclusive place for all with our longstanding commitment to equity and inclusion.

"Pride Month provides the perfect opportunity to learn and engage with LGBTIQA+ events and initiatives that will help us foster a sense of belonging and inclusion all year round," said Professor Pollock.

PrideFEST is Western Australia's largest LGBTIQA+ celebration of Pride Month and hosts a series of sports, arts and cultural events and activations in the community. As part of this, ECU will be hosting a range of campus events and again be taking part in Perth Fairday, Bunbury Fairday and the historic Pride Parade through Northbridge.

In addition to our commitment to LGBTIQA+ communities through ECU's Equity and Inclusion Plan, LGBTIQA+ Ally Network, LGBTIQA+ Staff Network, engagement with Pride Inclusion Programs and our Rainbow Matters SharePoint site, there are many ways for our community to get involved.

ECU Pride activities

All ECU staff and students are invited to a fun social picnic to connect with community and allies as they all join in decorating ECU's Pride Parade float and create banners and signs for the parade.

ECU will also host community of practice learning events with a collective of WA tertiary practitioners learning and sharing on how to make curriculums more diverse workplace inclusion, focussing on psychological safety in the workplace and ECU's involvement in Pride in Diversity's Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI).
