New Australian survey data has revealed more Edith Cowan University (ECU) graduates are in full-time medium-term employment (three years post-graduation) than ever before, a record 93%.
Higher than the national average, and higher than all other Western Australian universities.
"These outstanding survey results are taken at the three-year mark from graduation, highlighting to our academic and teaching staff that our job-ready graduates excel as they settle into their chosen careers," ECU Vice-Chancellor Professor Steve Chapman said.
National GOS-L results for the 2023 survey recently made public, again show that medium-term employment outcomes are considerably stronger than short-term outcomes measured after four to six months (in the Graduate Outcomes Survey, or GOS).
"The data also shows, at the medium-term, ECU graduates are some of the most employable in the state - an impressive result for a young university."
The survey results also reveal ECU graduates earn more than graduates from any other WA university in the medium-term , with a median full-time salary of $86,900. Together with 71.8% of ECU graduates working in professional or managerial positions, at the same point, continues to demonstrate our superior teaching and student experience.
Growth in graduate salaries from short- to medium-term is well beyond the low wage inflation during this three-year period.
The highest paying jobs in the medium-term were in computing and information systems, engineering, health services, teacher education and nursing.
"The latest GOS(L) survey results reinforce that we are guiding our students on the right path to career success, and that success is exponential as they settle into and navigate the workforce."
Australia's top public university for student experience
Additionally, in the most recent nationally run Student Experience Survey (SES) for 2022 (released in 2023) students ranked ECU as the number one public university in the country for undergraduate Overall Educational Experience, for the third year in a row.
In 2023 ECU also achieved five-stars in the Good Universities Guide (GUG) nationally for undergraduate study in Overall Experience, Student Support, Skills Development, Learning Resources and for the 17th year in a row, Teaching Quality.
"Student experience and graduate employability go to the very core of what we do at ECU, we believe one cannot go without the other." Professor Chapman concluded.
All Australian universities participated in the 2023 GOS-L, with around 40,000 surveys completed, and a 45% response rate.
At ECU, 840 graduates responded, 54.4% of those surveyed.
