Edith Cowan University (ECU) has appointed Professor Caroline Mansfield as Executive Dean of the School of Education.
Professor Mansfield joins ECU with an extensive career in both education and research. An ECU alumna with 17 years' experience in teacher education, with the last four years in Dean and Executive Dean positions.
Winning an Australian Learning and Teaching Fellowship in 2016, Professor Mansfield represents WA on the Australian Council of Deans of Education Board and is an advocate for quality teacher education and the teaching profession.
She is also recognised internationally in the area of teacher resilience and wellbeing, with her research findings being translated into online resources that have demonstrated impact for pre-service and practicing teachers in Australia and overseas.
ECU Vice-Chancellor Steve Chapman said Professor Mansfield is an experienced leader, with unique expertise that will drive further success in teacher education for ECU.
"Caroline is very much looking forward to growing the strengths of the School of Education and leading the school to deliver on high performance in learning and teaching, research and student experience," Professor Chapman explained.
"As Executive Dean, Caroline will champion a collaborative and values-led culture and apply her considerable expertise to build upon and drive international recognition for the School and its disciplines."
Vice Chancellor Steve Chapman has thanked Professors Andrew Taggart and Glenda Campbell-Evans for their generous contributions and dedicated service to ECU and to Education, as interim Executive Dean and Dean Education for the School of Education.
Professor Mansfield will commence her role with ECU on February 6.
