Every year in Australia, we recognise and celebrate our energetic educators.
The hard-working people who teach and inspire children through their early childhood, primary or secondary school years.
In some cases, offering ongoing guidance beyond that!
Teaching is one of the most fulfilling careers anyone could have.
Imagine coming to work every day knowing you're helping to develop the next batch of little (and not so little) humans.
It's a great responsibility.
But for those who succeed, it's also a great reward.
Teachers are in demand
If becoming a school teacher is something you've been considering, the good news is that your chance of employment is really high.
Australia (and Western Australia) has a shortage of teachers, so they're in demand.
And with hundreds of schools and early learning centres across WA alone, there are endless opportunities.
Becoming a teacher in one of these schools can also take you to amazing places across the state.
Teaching is also a relatively stable profession, compared to many other industries.
How to join the teaching profession
University study is your starting point.
It doesn't matter whether you've just left high school, or you've been working or raising a family but are now ready for a change.
Entry requirements for courses can vary, as can the length of teaching degrees.
Some can be completed in a shorter time, especially if you already have a degree in something else.
We suggest you start by looking at Teacher Education courses.
And if you feel like celebrating a teacher you know, why not join in the fun at World Teachers Day?
