CUA60120 - Advanced Diploma of Professional Dance (Elite Performance)

This nationally-recognised qualification is the second year of the vocational dance program and is ballet focused. It takes a holistic approach to the needs of the dancer of the future, building the skills required for lifelong sustainability in the dance profession. The course encourages dancers' individuality, confidence, flair and creativity. Students take classes in ballet, pointe, classical repertoire, contemporary techniques, choreography, performance, dance history, music, fitness and kinesiology. Following completion of this course, it is possible to transfer to the Bachelor of Arts (Dance) for a third year of training that allows students to graduate with a Bachelor's degree.

Admission requirements

Admission requirement (Band 1)

  • Completion of Year 10 or equivalent.

English Language requirement (Band 1)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • Year 10 English completion or equivalent.

Course Specific Admission Requirements

All applicants are required to attend an audition. In the audition, candidates must demonstrate competence in at least one dance style at a Diploma level. It is desirable that all applicants demonstrate dance expertise through extensive vocational experience, or in grades achieved in different dance styles through dance societies that run examinations linked to certification levels, and that they are turning at least 17 by 30 June in the year of commencing the course.

Portfolio pathway applications are not accepted for this course.

Students may be required to attend evening and weekend rehearsals and performances.

The Training Package rules require 4 Core units plus 14 Elective units.
