Master of Engineering

This coursework postgraduate degree is suitable for people who have previously completed a non-accredited engineering or technology degree and wish to upgrade to an accredited professional engineering qualification, or who wish to branch out into another area of specialisation.

Work Experience Requirement

Students are required to complete (or have previously completed) a 12-week practicum under the supervision of an engineer in a relevant industry environment.

Enrolment process

The Engineering Practicum unit can be undertaken during the break between the first and second year of the course, or at the conclusion of the second year (although this may delay graduation).

Admission requirements

  • Into a 120 credit point Masters Degree, a Bachelor Honours degree in the same discipline; or
  • Into a 180 credit point Masters Degree, a Bachelor degree in the same discipline; or
  • Into a 180 credit point Masters Degree, a Bachelor Honours degree; or
  • Into a 240 credit point Masters Degree, a Bachelor degree; or
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years appropriate professional experience.

Course Specific Admission Requirements

All students are required to have completed a Bachelor degree in engineering or engineering technology, with equivalents considered. Alternatively students can have completed the Bachelor of Engineering Science or Graduate Diploma in Engineering Science, with equivalents considered.

Students are required to complete 4 Core units, 12 specialisation units and a practicum unit.
