Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hygiene

This course enables students to develop skills as a technician in occupational hygiene, so they can identify, evaluate and control occupational or environmental hazards that could adversely affect the health of workers or communities.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Reflect critically on a complex body of discipline knowledge, research principles and methods to demonstrate an advanced level of Occupational Hygiene professional practice or scholarship.
  2. Apply cognitive, technical and creative skills to investigate, evaluate and synthesise complex occupational hygiene ideas, concepts and theories in workplace situations.
  3. Apply communication and collaboration skills to demonstrate high-level, independent judgement in professional occupational hygiene contexts.

Admission requirements

Admission requirement (Band 6)

  • Bachelor degree; or
  • Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.

English Language requirement (Band 4)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Bachelor degree from a country specified in the Admissions Policy;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
  • Other tests, courses or programs as defined in the Admissions Policy.

Course Duration

  • Full Time: 1 Year
  • Part Time: 2 Years

  • Online: Full Time, Part Time

Non standard timetable requirements

Students are required to attend a 3 day workshop for each of the 3 practical units (OHS6144, OHS6159 & OHS6162)
