Master of Project Management

ECU's 100% online and accelerated Master of Project Management is offered within the School of Business and Law, so the course has a strong business focus. It is for current and aspiring professionals who want to consolidate their fundamental knowledge of project management principles and practice and also develop advanced skills to design, implement and lead a diverse range of projects in almost any industry. Learn how to use project management to solve complex problems in the delivery of corporate strategy and to be able to contribute to the advancement of the profession and to the wider community.

Admission requirements

Admission requirement (Band 6)

  • Bachelor degree; or
  • Equivalent prior learning including at least five years relevant professional experience.

English Language requirement (Band 4)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
  • Bachelor degree from a country specified in the Admissions Policy;
  • Successfully completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional experience; or
  • Other tests, courses or programs as defined in the Admissions Policy.

Course Specific Admission Requirements

All applicants are required to meet the published entry requirements. Alternatively applicants may apply with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Project Management. Eligible students can fast-track their Master of Project Management and complete their degree in nine units by applying for recognition of prior learning. To gain entry to the fast-tracked master’s degree, applicants must: Have an Australian Bachelor degree, or equivalent, in Project Management, Engineering or Information Technology, or have completed a major in Project Management, or any Australian Bachelor degree, or equivalent, with at least 2 years of professional project management experience; or Hold a current professional accreditation in project management to meet one of the following: Be a registered project manager (RegPM) with the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) at CPPP level or above; or Be a current active (not retired) Project Management Institute (PMI) certificate holder at either PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA or PMI-RMP level; or Be a current registered Chartered Project Professional with the Association for Project Management (APM) at any level.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) level

This course has been accredited by ECU as an AQF Level 9 Masters Degree (Coursework) Award.
