Medical Sciences Major

This unit set is designed to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills required to work in biological laboratories and related medical fields. Students learn about the normal structure and function of the human body and gain strong foundational knowledge of the immune system, infection and treatments, blood and blood pathologies. Many of the staff teaching in this major are currently research active and bring the latest knowledge and skills to their practice. Highly practical learning activities encourage students to expand and apply knowledge using modern laboratory equipment in world-class laboratory settings. This course builds critical thinking capabilities and the practical skills to transition into a range of laboratory disciplines such as microbiology, developmental biology, biochemistry and physiology.
