Health and Physical Education Major

This major is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to teach Years 7-12 Health and Physical Education.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Analyse and implement knowledge and skills in diverse contexts to create positive learning environments in health and physical education.
  2. Communicate knowledge and ideas clearly in both written and oral formats.
  3. Critically reflect using accredited standards and mentor feedback, to plan for continued collaborative and autonomous professional learning and development.
  4. Demonstrate broad and coherent knowledge in depth regarding the Australian curriculum and teaching strategies for secondary health and physical education.
  5. Demonstrate initiative and exercise professional judgement and collaborate to plan, problem solve and make decisions in health and physical education.
  6. Exercise critical thinking and judgement to identify and solve problems.
  7. Review, analyse and synthesise knowledge of pedagogical practices to plan for the delivery of health and physical education teaching.

* Students will be assessed to see if they have achieved the ECU minimum standard of English language proficiency in this unit. Students who don't meet the minimum standard will be provided with appropriate English language support and development.
