The commercialisation and professionalisation of sport over the past 10-15 years has seen sport industry employers increasingly prefer university graduates with analytical and practical skills for managerial positions. This major commences with an introduction to the sport industry and focuses upon application of the key aspects of marketing, sport delivery systems, organisational management, economics and finance, legal aspects, research methods, business planning, and relevant professional practice opportunities. It equips students with the knowledge, practical skills and transferable employability skills, including leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, communication and problem-solving, required to function as business professionals and industry leaders in contemporary sport agencies and organisations. Course exclusion: This major cannot be studied in the Bachelor of Sport, Recreation and Event Management.
