Home Economics Education Minor

Effective from 01-JAN-2016 : Code MIAAGM

This minor allows students to investigate teaching pedagogies and methodologies that use a problem-solving approach, which is an integral component of the design process, and is common to all subjects in the technology and enterprise learning area. In addition, students investigate issues associated with teaching for life-long learning in a practical hands-on area.

This minor is designed to offer education students specialised skills that will enable them to teach food, textile and child care courses in the lower secondary school, for those students contemplating teaching careers as multi-skilled practitioners, and is ideal for those wanting to broaden their employment possibilities.

Minor Structure

Students are required to complete 4 Content units and 2 Curriculum units. Content units educate students in the subject area and the Curriculum units explain how to teach the subject area to others.
