Sport Business Minor

This minor provides students with a specialisation centering on the management, delivery and marketing of sport services, programs and products. Depending upon their interests and needs, students are able to gain knowledge in another key area applicable to all sectors of the sport industry including law, planning, business development, or venue and event management.

Practicum Requirement

SPM2111: Students will undertake a work integrated learning micro-placement of a minimum of 20 hours in a not-for-profit, incorporated sport organisation/club.

Duty of care

Some host organisations may require clearances, screenings and certificates, and will liaise directly with students regarding any requirements. A placement host organisation may have vaccination and other requirements, including vaccination against Covid-19. Please consider this requirement before enrolling in this unit-set, and speak with the Course Coordinator if this raises any concerns. You may not be able to complete placement units if you are unable to meet the placement requirements, which may impact your ability to complete this unit-set.

Attendance requirements

Students are required to complete 20 hours per practicum at their host organisation. These hours may be outside normal university hours.

Application process

Students are required to submit a current resume, a statement addressing their suitability and may be required to attend an interview.

Enrolment process

Students will be enrolled into SPM2111.

Professional practice rules

Students are provided with Student Guidelines for Work Integrated Learning which detail the expected behaviour and conduct while working in the host organisation.
