This specialisation provides a strong theoretical foundation for the study and practice of design and technology across a variety of media and technologies. The focus of the study is on materials and systems designs within the context of contemporary technologies, and it covers content, teaching and learning, and assessment strategies, as well as the development and evaluation of teaching programs.

All applicants are required to complete at least two years (4 units) of degree level studies in design or design related study with at least two units at level 2 or above in areas such as architecture, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, landscape design, product design, including two units of practical application in designing and producing in engineering, industrial technology (wood, metals, plastics), textile technology.
