Master of Nurse Education

This program will prepare nurses to undertake advanced level roles in nurse education, training, continuing education, and/or staff development in the healthcare sector. The course focuses on developing and enhancing sound teaching and learning knowledge, skills, and practices which allow the graduate to impact on the next generation of nurses.

Learning Within Existing Workplace Requirement

Students are required to complete clinical teaching hours as part of this course.

Students are required to pass the practicum unit of the course.

Registration

Admission requirements

  • Into a 120 credit point Masters Degree, a Bachelor Honours degree in the same discipline; or
  • Into a 180 credit point Masters Degree, a Bachelor degree in the same discipline; or
  • Into a 180 credit point Masters Degree, a Bachelor Honours degree; or
  • Into a 240 credit point Masters Degree, a Bachelor degree; or
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years appropriate professional experience.

Course Specific Admission Requirements

All students are required to be employed within a healthcare setting in order to undertake the assessment components of the course, and provide proof of current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and provide a copy of their resume. It is desirable that all students have at least two years of clinical experience. All students are required to students who are packaged with an English preparation course must be re-tested against an approved English test before admission.
