Unit Set Information

Physics Education Major

Effective from 01-JAN-2025 : Code MAAAKO

The major is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to teach Years 7 – 10 general science and senior physics with an emphasis on key physics understandings, and provides the extended content knowledge needed to address the demands and opportunities of the secondary school physics curriculum. Students must select the Maths Education Minor when choosing this specialisation. Emphasis is given to inquiry-based practical work, demonstrations, co-operative group work, whole class discussions and use of information communication technology, to ensure effective learning and teaching practices in secondary science. Planning, teaching, and assessment strategies are developed within a range of science content areas. There is also a focus on collaborative teaching processes, whilst acknowledging the importance of individual creative practice.
