Children and Family Studies Major

This major adopts the frameworks of human rights and social inclusion. It equips students with knowledge and skills of working in leadership positions with children, families and communities in a range of fields. These fields include early education and care, family support, parent education and policy and service development.

Practicum Requirement

This major includes two professional placement components. The first one is undertaken in the first year of study, while the second is a year-long placement undertaken in the third year of study.

Duty of care

Students are required to provide evidence of a valid Working With Children Check.

Professional practice rules

Professional Placement requirements are determined by Australian Community Workers Association and by Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority.

Implications of failing

Students will be required to repeat the units should they fail, as successful completion of the placements is required for completion of the course.
