The Master of Occupational Paramedicine prepares students for the emerging paramedic role within the broad health community. This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to deliver care within a wide range of pre-hospital environments including the resource sector, mining, oil and gas, construction and production industries.

Students are required to undertake clinical practice placements as part of this course with partner healthcare providers.
To be eligible to undertake clinical practice and fulfil their duty of care, students are required to complete risk management protocols on commencement of the course and carry out amendments in subsequent semesters, as appropriate. Risk management protocols include, but are not restricted to: " Certificate of National Police Clearance " Current Manual Handling Certification; initial certification required plus annual renewal of certification, courses available via ECU provider " Evidence of immunisation status as per the Department of Health schedule " MRSA clearance if worked in, or been admitted to, a health facility outside of Western Australia in the 12 months prior to enrolment " Working with Children Check Prior to undertaking placements, students are required to have the pre-practicum checklist completed and signed off by the placement co-ordinator. The required learning outcomes in some of the compulsory practical units in this course may not be readily achievable or appropriate for persons with certain disabilities or medical conditions. Whilst the university will attempt to make such adjustments as is reasonably practical, all students must fulfil the inherent requirements of the unit set which are linked to professional and industry competencies. Students are strongly encouraged to discuss the requirements of the course with the Course Coordinator before enrolling
Students will be required to attend during the hours established by the host health agency providing the clinical experience opportunity. These hours may occur at times outside the identified semester weeks, and clinical practice periods may change with minimal notice to students due to circumstances outside the control of the School.
Students will be expected to initiate and develop a professional portfolio that maps their progression towards professional practice and the national paramedic competencies, as articulated by the accrediting body.
All applicants are required to have a Bachelor Degree in Paramedical Science or Nursing or a completed Graduate Certificate in Occupational Paramedicine or Graduate Diploma in Occupational Paramedicine, with equivalents considered. Alternatively applicants can apply with equivalent prior learning, including at least five years relevant professional work experience.
