Community Planning and Development Major

This major is recommended for students wishing to focus their studies and career on community planning and development in the planning or urban/regional development sectors of the economy. The major provides students with an understanding of social planning and its role in the creation of socially cohesive and liveable communities. It equips students with an appreciation of the principles of social justice and includes concepts of community engagement and the enhancement of community well-being.

Work Experience Option

Students in this unit set have the opportunity to seek a Work Integrated Learning placement with an industry partner.

Duty of care

Students must participate in an induction on the requirements and procedures for completing work placement including documentation and risk management.

Attendance requirements

Students are required to complete a minimum of 100 hours. Host organisations may require students to attend work after hours and on the weekends.
