Critical Care Nursing - Paediatric Intensive Care Specialisation

This specialisation provides Registered Nurses with the knowledge to develop expertise in the management of patients within the paediatric intensive care setting.

Special Admission Requirements

All students are required to be employed for a minimum of 18 hours per week in a paediatric intensive care setting.

Learning Within Existing Workplace Requirement

Students are required to undertake a year-long practicum unit whilst employed within their specialty clinical area. Students are assessed in the work place by their individual Clinical Facilitators and are required to demonstrate their competency in accordance with the advanced practice standards of their related professional organisation.

Attendance requirements

Students are required to be working at least 18 hours per week in a paediatric intensive care setting.

Implications of failing

Students must pass the year-long practicum unit in order to graduate with the specialisation.

Note: MHP6100 must be completed prior to MHP6101. Therefore students progressing to the Masters award should enrol in MHP6100 in Year 2 Semester 1, and undertake NST6100 in Year 2 Semester 2.
