Four ECU staff members have been recognised for their resilience, perseverance, and commitment to gender equality with an Edith Cowan Athena Swan Advancement Scheme honour in the eighth round of the Awards.

The Edith Cowan Athena Swan Advancement Scheme aims to celebrate gender diversity in the spirit of the Athena Swan principles, providing professional development opportunities to those who have parental or caring responsibilities as they progress in their careers and/or recognising ECU’s gender equality champions who make a difference to the status quo at work every day through exemplary leadership.

Members of the ECU community celebrated the winning recipients at a ceremony which took place on 15 November 2023 on the Joondalup campus, co-hosted by ECU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Steve Chapman CBE, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Regional Futures), Professor Cobie Rudd.

“I think it is testimony to ECU’s steadfastness in respect to redressing gender inequities, that this Scheme has continued for the 8 years and endured a pandemic.” Professor Rudd said.

The Vice-Chancellor presented certificates to the recipients of the awards and acknowledged how important the Athena Swan Advancement Scheme is to the University.

In a very competitive round with a high standard of nominations, there were four winners of the 2023 Edith Cowan Athena Swan Advancement Scheme:
