Background

Stevie is a scholar activist and Equity Projects Coordinator at ECU where they lead the development of institution-wide inclusive LGBTIQA+ practice, underpinned by contemporary research, evidence, and lived experience, and framed around human rights pedagogy. They are a co-founder of the Higher Education Australia Pride Practitioners (HEAPPs) WA chapter and a member of the Pride at ECU Committee, LGBTIQA+ Ally Network Leadership Team and LGBTIQA+ Staff Network Working Group. They have worked in the mental health and community services sector for many years and are involved in advocacy for legislative change through Rainbow Futures WA.

Research Interests

Stevie is interested in the areas of queer, trans and disability studies. In particular, they are interested in the intersections between LGBTIQA+ and disability identity and community, widening participation in higher education for LGBTIQA+ and disabled students, embedding social justice and inclusion in curriculum, inclusive data collection, intersex rights and combatting anti-trans disinformation.
