Research Training and Resources

GRS offers free online training and resources to research candidates, tailored to every stage of candidature. The HDR Training and Workshops Canvas site consists of self-paced programs that are accessible to all candidates, wherever they are based.

The workshops provide candidates with strategies for a successful research journey, appropriate research design and methodology, timely completion, and effective writing and communication.

Our program includes regular and annual workshops as well as special events with guest presenters. Regular workshops include topics designed to support you while you undertake your research, in areas such as:

  • Managing Your Research Project
  • Designing and Undertaking Research
  • Writing and Communicating Research
  • Completion Masterclass
  • Preparing for Thesis Examination (including Oral Examination).

Our SOAR Peer Advisers also provide peer-to-peer workshops where they share their own knowledge and experiences of a particular topic in a small group setting.

A range of other training opportunities are available from schools and key support services such as the ECU Library, HDR Communication Advisers and Research Ethics team.

The Graduate Research Induction Program (GRIP)

The Graduate Research Induction Program (GRIP) is an online training program for all new ECU research candidates. It provides essential information to get you started on your research journey. You’ll be required to complete GRIP prior to your confirmation of candidature.
