You can assess your level of dependence and the cost to you as a smoker.

When considering the barriers to being a smoker, Quit provides a slider to work out the financial cost of smoking. For more information, visit the Quit website.

iPhone and Android applications

There are several good mobile phone applications available for inexpensive or free download for either iPhone or Android based mobile devices. These applications can be used to coach you through the process of quitting, keeping you accountable as you go and increase your likelihood of succeeding. There are many free trial based applications available to download direct to your phone, or you can choose to purchase the upgraded more feature rich version if you find one that has those extra features you want.

Quit Now: My QuitBuddy

The Quit Now: My QuitBuddy is a personalised interactive app with quit tips, daily motivational messages, countdown to quitting reminders. The user records their goals in pictures, words or audio messages and the panic button when craving provides a range of distractions. Call the Quitline 13 7848 or a buddy from the app, or post a note on the community board. Download the My QuitBuddy free on your iPhone, iPad from Apple iTunes online Store or for your android phones from Google Play store.

  • Quitter is a free app that helps you keep track of how long you’ve been smoke free and how much money you have saved as a result.
  • Smoking Counter is a 99c app that helps smokers monitor their smoking frequency. Users can set a daily limit and use it to reduce their smoking habits with the use of a fun animated character. Monitor your statistics on a daily, monthly or yearly basis.
  • Smoking management is a free app useful for quitting or reducing your smoking habits and it links up with twitter for instant peer support.
  • Quit Coach

Android mobile applications

  • Quit Now! Is a free Android app that helps users track smoking habit statistics such as: days without smoking, cigarettes not smoked, money saved, time saved. It also offers health information and tips for quitting. The donation version adds Twitter integration to share your progress. Available in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German and Russian.
