About

Welcome to Edith Cowan University (ECU) Library Services Centre, a place for the University community to access study and research support throughout the academic journey.

We provide scholarly resources and services in support of and to advance the University’s learning and teaching, and research goals.

In addition to maintaining a comprehensive range of online, print, audio-visual and streaming collections relevant to current courses, our librarians focus on developing the digital and information literacy skills that will enable our students and graduates to be global citizens who can contribute to their communities and thrive in contemporary workplaces.

Our team cultivates welcoming spaces, both virtual and physical, for study, work, innovation and collaboration.

The Library commits to:

  • Identify, acquire and provide access to a range of resources in support of ECU’s teaching and research programs.
  • Manage, preserve and promote the digital repository of research outputs produced by staff and postgraduate students of ECU.
  • Provide student-centred spaces that facilitate study, research, collaboration, creation and contemplation.
  • Provide customer-focused, welcoming and consistent customer experiences across all touchpoints and at all stages of ECU customers’ journey.
  • Provide a range of workshops and resources to teach and guide students’ development of a variety of skills including discovery, evaluation and ethical use of information.
  • Deliver just-in-time customer support with digital technologies, platforms and digital resources.
  • Support staff, students and the wider community to manage, access, retain and protect ECU's information assets.

Library of the Future Report

A report was prepared in 2021 exploring services and facilities to consider when looking to the future of ECU Library Services, including its role in ECU City.

The project included a large user experience study of students and staff comprising interviews, surveys, observation and focus groups, exploring the following areas:

  • spaces
  • technology
  • services
  • collections
  • priorities
