Get your daily local news fix with access to The West Australian online, via ECU Library.
If you grew up in Perth, you’ll know buying and reading a copy of ‘The West’ on a Saturday morning was a local institution.
It contained more than news. You could relive recent football highlights, scour the classifieds for a weekend job, and get your Hollywood fix in the entertainment section.
The West Australian continues to serve as a leading news source in Perth and WA; now, in print and digital formats. In 2019 a digital subscription model for thewest.com.au was introduced.
Happily, access to The West Australian in ECU Library’s digital collections was recently re-enabled. It’s published six days per week and ECU staff and students can now access digital articles dating back to 2000 via the NewsBank databases.
Log in through ECU Library’s A-Z list of databases using your ECU log in. Use the search bar or click the relevant quick link to access recent copies of The West Australian.
You can also view articles from The Sunday Times (2016-present) by selecting Seven West Media Titles in the quick links section.
Note: Because NewsBank is a global platform and publishing is handled internationally, editions are available at approximately 4:00pm AWST on the date of publication.
