EndNote is a software program that allows you to manage your references.
EndNote 21 is the latest release.
It is already available at ECU for Windows, with Mac-compatible release expected soon.
You can install the latest version on ECU-managed Windows computers through Company Portal or Software Centre, and on personal devices through the IT Software Download Service.
You'll be able to continue using your current EndNote version if you prefer not to upgrade immediately.
EndNote 21 will be available in ECU eLabs in time for Semester 1, 2024.
Your Library team is preparing the following resources to support the version change:
As they become available, the resources will be announced in the EndNote Library Guide.
Whether you choose to transition now or later, it is crucial to back up your existing reference library to ensure a smooth transition.
Your current version of EndNote will uninstall upon installation of latest release.
You will be able to access your saved libraries using the new version of EndNote, however, backing up your library will ensure no data is lost to unexpected errors.
The Library maintains a comprehensive EndNote Library Guide. Open the drop-down accordion titled Back up your library to save your work for back up instructions and guidance.
Libraries created with older versions of EndNote X9 or earlier are not compatible with EndNote 20 or 21.
When you open your EndNote library in EndNote 21 for the first time, it will create a new “Converted” copy of your library.
This new copy will work in EndNote 21, but is not backwards compatible with older versions.
EndNote 21 for Windows can be installed now from ECU’s:
