In 2023, ECU proudly joined the Council of Australasian University Librarians' (CAUL) Open Educational Resources (OER) Collective. This initiative is designed to advance the OER agenda at a national level, fostering collaboration and innovation in educational resources.

About the OER Collective

The OER Collective, an initiative of the Council of Australasian University Librarians, aims to build infrastructure and capacity, facilitate collaborative authoring and publishing, and enable independent publishing. The Collective supports both independent and collaborative publishing, building community and capacity to engage with open education.

2025 Grant Categories

The OER Collective has opened Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for their 2025 grants. Here are the categories available:

Creation Grants

  • COLLABORATE: $10,000 for the creation of a major collaborative text. Projects must involve cross-institutional teams, with authors from multiple institutions.
  • CREATE: $2,500 for completing a new text.
  • LEAP: $2,500 to support an institution in completing its first publication through the collective. For ECU, this will support our first OER published with the collective.

Adoption Grants

  • ADOPT+: Two grants of $2,500 each to create supplementary resources for existing OER, boosting their adoption.
