Learning and Career Hub

The Learning and Career Hub sits within the Joondalup Library (JO31) on Level 2.

Please visit during the Hub's opening hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.

The space is designed to provide seamless learning support to students through a shared service model.

Self-help screens on level 2 will guide you to services and resources in building 31.

Concierge service at Joondalup

Need assistance or support while at Joondalup Library or the Learning and Career Hub in the Library?

Look for the Library Peer Assistants wearing red shirts in the Library each day during semester - they'll send you in the right direction when it comes to all your Library, learning and career support needs.

Peer support at the Library

Access peer support with learning technologies and Library services, either in person at the Library or using our virtual service.

Library Peer Assistants can support you with:

  • using ECU Library search and the Library databases
  • locating and retrieving online and print resources
  • navigating the Library website
  • learning technology used at ECU (eg Canvas, MS Teams, Panopto, Pebblepad)
  • and lots more!

Academic Skills and Careers

Careers Assistants and Career Advisers provide a range of career support including:

  • guidance with supporting documents for job applications and programs
  • reviewing resumes, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles
  • support you with your career goals and action planning
  • support with job seeking tools and platforms, job applications and coaching via mock interviews
  • Careers Assistants run weekly drop-in sessions
  • industry networking events, volunteering, mentoring and careers fairs

Learning Advisers and Peer Skills Advisers provide a range of on-campus and online support to assist students to develop their English language, academic writing, numeracy and study skills including:

  • the provision of self-access resources on the Academic Skills Centre community site in Canvas
  • academic skills workshops on various topics to develop academic writing, communication and critical thinking skills
  • academic skills drop-ins to help students get started on and plan their assignments and answer questions
  • one-on-one appointments to provide more extended feedback on assignments

You'll also find UniPrep Course and Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) classrooms on level 2.

High Use Collection

On Level 2 of Joondalup Library you can find the High Use Collection. These are books and other resources which are loaned for short periods. The High Use Collection room also has a photocopying machine, and a self check out machine for borrowing books and other resources.

You'll also find a returns shelf on this level where you can return your books.

Workshops and events

The workshop space holds career events, Library workshops and Centre for Learning and Teaching workshops along with other events from across the University.

Collaborative study spaces

There are some great collaborative group study spaces in the Learning and Career Hub including the collective, the cave and the grassy knoll, as well as lots of whiteboards and power for laptops.
