ECU provides accessible, community-based programs through the ECU Health Centres. The programs are delivered by students to improve community access to much-needed services.
The ECU Psychological Services Centre is a state-of-the-art psychology clinic and training centre that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable psychological services. Master of Clinical Psychology students, who are provisionally registered psychologists, provide current evidence-based psychological services under the direct supervision of experienced and professionally registered clinical psychologists. Our students and staff provide a professional, confidential, and caring service to children, adolescents, and adults. The Centre provides individual and group psychological services for adult therapy, child and adolescent therapy, and cognitive assessments for children and adults. Group workshops are offered twice a year on sleeping better and managing stress.
Community members can access personalised counselling and psychotherapy services at the ECU Counselling Service . Accessible, affordable services are offered by ECU’s Master of Counselling & Psychotherapy students, guided by specialist couple and family therapy practitioners. Tailored interventions are offered for individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and groups of all ages. The Counselling Service partners with the ECU Psychological Services Centre for holistic care. People from all walks of life are welcomed, including Indigenous Peoples, the LGBTIQA+ community, and migrants. Workshops and community education are also offered on online safety and digital world challenges, healthy relationships, parenting support groups, and self-development groups.
ECU collaborates with the City of Wanneroo Libraries on the Health and Wellness Workshops Series. Free community workshops are presented at City of Wanneroo Libraries by ECU students on health and wellness topics such as nutrition and healthy eating, physical activity, mental health, and child and adolescent health.
The workshops give community members the chance to participate in group sessions, meet new people, and learn about up-to-date, pertinent health and wellness information. The workshop series helps address the City of Wanneroo’s focus on community development and breaking down social isolation. They also provide final-year ECU students with valuable work-integrated learning experiences. Our students get to translate what they have learned into community conversations, giving them increased confidence and a sense of meaning to what they are studying.
The Workshop Series is held at Clarkson and Two Rocks Libraries. Three presentations are scheduled from August – December 2024, with more to come in 2025. Topics include:
