We are seeking a passionate, collaborative, creative and experienced theatre artist to take on the exciting role of Lecturer (Aboriginal Performance). As a leader of WAAPA’s renowned Aboriginal Performance program, you will have the opportunity to shape the next wave of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander storytellers and performers.
WAAPA’s renowned Aboriginal Performance program has been shaping the careers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students for over 20 years. This one-year, full-time VET Certificate IV in ‘Aboriginal Performance’ attracts aspiring performers from across Australia, offering a culturally vibrant and supportive environment.
Graduates of this program have forged successful careers in theatre, film, and television as actors, writers, and directors, with many securing spots in prestigious Bachelor programs at WAAPA, NIDA, and VCA. The course is open to students of all ages and experience levels, helping them develop their skills and unlock their creative potential.

In this role, you will bring your skills and experience in teaching acting to guide students through a comprehensive training program that prepares them for theatre and screen work. You’ll direct both in-class projects and public productions, providing hands-on, real-world experience. Your expertise in the performing arts industry will ensure that the course reflects best practices, while your ability to work with diverse age groups and experience levels will be key to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
