“I love to see the enthusiasm students get with writing and watch them achieve beyond what they thought was possible.”
As a PhD student at ECU, I was invited to teach at the Faculty of Regional Professional Studies in the Creative Industries discipline. I saw this as a great opportunity to kick-start my career in academia and move to the country. I really value the students here at ECU. So many of them are coming to literature and writing with a sense of awe and excitement, which I find gives me energy. I love to see the enthusiasm students get with writing and watch them achieve beyond what they thought was possible for them. I have a small team of staff in my programme that I trust and respect their great minds. Since moving to teaching in 2004, I have received a great deal of encouragement from my peers and have valued the listening and support that the management have shown me in my everyday work and my new writing initiatives.
